A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Athlone on Friday night.
The man, who is in his 20s, is being held at Athlone Garda Station.
One of three men who were arrested yesterday remains in custody.
Two men were released without charge overnight and files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The body of a 23-year-old man was discovered partially submerged in the River Shannon in an area known as Bogginfin at around 8.25pm on Friday.
A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on the body of at University Hospital Galway yesterday.
The results of that examination have not been released.

*UPDATE: Gardaí in Athlone have arrested a fourth man in connection with the death of a man (23) whose body was found in the River Shannon in Athlone.
The body of the Polish man was found partially submerged in water in an area known as Bogginfin at about 8.25pm on Friday night.
Gardaí began a murder investigation yesterday and are investigating whether the death may be connected to an earlier assault in the town.
Three men were arrested in Co Westmeath in connection with the incident. One man, who is in his 30s, remains in Garda custody in Athlone Garda station while the other two men were released without charge overnight.
A Garda spokesman said files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The fourth man, who is aged in his 20s, is being held detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Athlone Garda station.
A postmortem was carried out yesterday by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy at University HospitalGalway. No result have been released as of yet.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a black BMW in The Strand/Lloyd’s Lane area of Athlone on Friday evening between 6pm and 8pm to contact them.
They are also seeking information from anyone with information about activity in the Bogganfin area, a popular walkway where the M6 motorway crosses the River Shannon.
Gardaí are also seeking information with regard to another serious assault in the Athlone area on Friday night.

Lezek-Scychulec was remanded in custody to appear in court on 27 June

 A 32-year-old man has been charged with assaulting and falsely imprisoning 23-year-old Patryk Krupa whose body was discovered in the River Shannon near Athlone on Friday night. Lezek Scychulec, with an address at 14 Drinan, Ballymahon, Co Longford, appeared at a special sitting of the District Court in Athlone.
Mr Scychulec was also charged with threatening to kill or cause serious harm to Ewa Krasinska at Athlone Garda Station yesterday.



The 32-year-old was remanded in custody to appear again at a sitting of the District Court in Cloverhill on 27 June.
Mr Scychulec was heckled by a small crowd, including members of the Polish community, as he entered and left the court building.
The accused was also verbally abused by relatives of Mr Krupa in court and the judge had left the bench.
Mr Krupa's body was discovered partially submerged in an area known as Bogginfin at around 8.25pm on Friday.
Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder, two remain in custody.
