Two serving gardaí have been remanded on continuing bail at Limerick District Court charged with assaulting two brothers on a street in Limerick last December.
Both gardaí – who are each based at Dublin city garda stations – had been attending a Christmas party in Limerick City on December 5, 2013, when the alleged offences occurred.

The case came before the court during the summer, but it was adjourned until September 10.
The two officers who have been charged are Garda David Naughton, with an address in Lucan, Dublin and Garda Wesley Kenny of Sandyford, Dublin 18.
They are each charged with assaulting Luke Morrison and his brother James Morrison at Catherine Street, Limerick on December 5 last. They are both contesting the charges.
Both assault charges are contrary to Section 2 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.
If convicted, of common assault, a person is liable to a fine not exceeding €1,900 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or to both.
Darragh McCarthy, solicitor for the two accused gardaí, said he was appearing on behalf of another firm of solicitors, and asked the court for a date to be set to hear the case.
"I have to inform the court that it will take in excess of a day as there is extensive CCTV footage involved," the solicitor said.
Judge Eugene O'Kelly adjourned the matter to September 24, for mention, to fix a date to hear the case.
The judge granted an application by Mr McCarthy to excuse the accused gardaí from appearing in court on September 24.
Both men had also been excused from appearing in court today.
